Within the RESIZE – Reshaping Correctional Competencies through RESCALED Innovation project, two DACUM focus groups were held to explore the skills, tasks, and development needs across the wider correctional ecosystem. The first focus group took place on 28 October 2025 in Zagreb, followed by a second on 28 November 2025 in Požega.
The focus groups brought together practitioners from the prison system, social welfare services, the civil sector, and other stakeholders who work with individuals in detention or in reintegration processes. Through the DACUM methodology, participants identified core work activities, essential competencies, and areas where further support or training could enhance professional practice.
The RESIZE project aims to modernise the correctional workforce by supporting the transition toward small-scale, community-integrated detention houses, in line with the RESCALED approach. The project focuses on defining competency frameworks, developing vocational profiles, updating training pathways, and recognising prior learning to ensure that current and future professionals are equipped for evolving roles.
Insights gathered through these focus groups will inform upcoming project activities, including the development of competency-based curricula, qualification mapping, and tools that help professionals strengthen and validate their skills.
